چکیده

Introduction. Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is one of the most serious complications during postoperative period in cardiac surgery. Venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VV-ECMO) has proven to be a valuable therapy ARDS when standard insufficient. Our aim present case severe which was succesfully treated by VV-ECMO. Case outline. A 54-year-old male patient urgently admitted our hospital due anterior wall myocardal infarction. Urgent coronarography performed, found three-vessel coronary disease. Triple artery bypass grafting (CABG) performed. After surgery, prolonged insufficiency, diagnosed with and VV-ECMO placed. Nine days later, normal values gase exchange were achieved weaned from Conclusion. We showed that conventional for not effective, use ECMO should considered.

Venovenous Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation for Postoperative Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome

BACKGROUND Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) has recently attracted interest as a treatment for severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). However, the outcomes of this procedure in post-surgical settings have not yet been characterized. In this study, we evaluated the outcomes of ECMO in patients with severe postoperative ARDS. METHODS From January 2007 to December 2012, a t...

Venovenous Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation for Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome in Adults: Prognostic Factors for Outcomes.

Despite a therapeutic option for severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), the survival benefit of venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VV-ECMO) is still controversial in adults. This study was aimed at investigating the prognostic factors for ECMO-treated ARDS in adult patients. From 2012 to 2015, 49 patients (median age: 57 years) received VV-ECMO in our institution and wer...

Outcomes of Venovenous Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation Support for Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome in Adults

BACKGROUND Despite improved managements for acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), its mortality remains high. Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) has emerged as the final option for the treatment of ARDS unresponsive to conventional measures. This study describes our experiences of venovenous ECMO support for the treatment of ARDS. MATERIALS AND METHODS Between 2007 and 2010, 56 ...

A Case of Leptospirosis-Associated Severe Pulmonary Hemorrhagic Syndrome Successfully Treated with Venovenous Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation

Background In patients with leptospirosis-associated severe pulmonary hemorrhagic syndrome (SPHS), hypoxemia is the most common cause of death despite maximal mechanical ventilation. Case A 50-year-old male sushi chef who had never traveled outside Japan presented with a 2-day history of fever and muscle pain. On admission, the patient had thrombocytopenia, renal insufficiency, and jaundice. ...

Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation for acute respiratory distress syndrome

Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) can be a lifesaving therapy in patients with refractory severe respiratory failure or cardiac failure. Severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) still has a high-mortality rate, but ECMO may be able to improve the outcome. Use of ECMO for respiratory failure has been increasing since 2009. Initiation of ECMO for adult ARDS should be considered ...
